Update

Broccoli is growing well so are the cucumbers which is good. Going to plant the other seedlings soon. I have a bunch of lettuce from last crop that were using up! I gave some to my boss, my boyfriends family, and my family has been using it like crazy for salads.
 Plus its free!!!! Totally cool....

Anyway since last time we had some rain and our rain barrel is filled up! We have been using that for our seedlings. The compost doesn't have the right amounts of green so its not degrading as fast as it could so I think this coming week I will work on that because the mulch will be necessary once the plants get bigger.

Goals

The goals of this project is to try and get as much as one could out of a garden with the smallest cost possible.

What I started with as of Jan 21 2012:
Broccoli Seeds : $ 0.96
Cucumber Seeds: $1.07
Lettuce Seeds: $.85
Onion(red) Seeds. $.96
Jalapeno seeds:$. 96
Tomato seeds: $1.07

Organic Potting Soil : about $5

So adding in taxes, My amount comes to $10.87

Now in the garden already, I have a verma-composting, and a regular composter which will hopefully help with the quality. I also have a rain barrel which will cut costs in watering the plants I put in pots.

So far, we started seeds in a tray with small individual boxes for them to grow in and we used up the whole tomato packet and used about half of the rest of them. In about two weeks they should germinate and a couple weeks after that, once they have 2 sets of true leaves, I will plant them.
